The second China International Consumer Goods Fair with the theme of “Sharing Open Opportunities and Creating a Better Life” ended in Haikou, Hainan On the 30th. The CICGF has been held since the 25th, with a total exhibition area of 100,000 square meters, of which the international exhibition area is 80,000 square meters, and more than 1,600 brands participate in the exhibition.
Participating international enterprises have said that the CICGF is one of the platforms for China to open up to the outside world at a higher level, and hope to use the CICGF to expand the Chinese market and share China’s opportunities.
As the guest of honor of the second CICGF, France participated in more than 50 exhibitors this year, bringing nearly 250 brands to the exhibition, becoming the country with the largest number of participating brands except China.
Following its participation in the inaugural CICGF, L’Oréal is exhibiting again this year, with the pavilion expanding to 625 square metres. L’Oréal North Asia President and China CEO Faberi said that the holding of the Expo is a signal of further opening up of the Chinese market, and this platform will further release the consumption potential of the Chinese market.
Zou Chunyi, vice president of Danone China, said that the CICGF is a “bridge” and “window” for foreign high-quality goods to enter the Chinese market, and is another important platform for sharing China’s opening up opportunities after the Expo, which is conducive to promoting the connection between internal and external markets and boosting consumption upgrading.
As China’s first state-level exhibition with the theme of consumer boutiques, the CICGF has become a national-level “exhibition matrix” for China to actively share development opportunities with the world, together with the Canton Fair, the Service Trade Fair and the CIIE, and an important public service platform for China’s opening up to the outside world.
During the Expo, the durian, coffee, snacks and other delicacies exhibited by the Thai Chia Tai Group were favored by the audience. “The CICGF is a very good platform that is in line with our company’s development strategy.” Xue Zengyi, vice chairman of the Agricultural and Animal Husbandry food enterprise China of Chia Tai Group, said that he will come to the Circumference every year in the future.
Attracted by the Hainan Free Trade Port policy, Chia Tai Group increased its investment in Hainan and established Chia Tai (Hainan) International Trade Co., Ltd. last year. Xue Zengyi said that he hopes to import the world’s best consumer goods into Hainan and then push them to the national market from Hainan, and at the same time bring China’s high-quality consumer goods to the world through the Hainan Free Trade Port, “buying the world and selling the world”.
“We want to promote the Thai brand to Hainan, as well as to the Chinese and international markets.” Chen Liling, Commercial Consul of the Commercial Department of the Royal Thai Consulate General in Guangzhou, said that she believes that through the Expo, Thailand has a better opportunity to showcase Thailand’s high-quality brands and products to the world.
“This year’s CICGF was fantastic!” Chen Wen, manager of the South China region of the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, said that this year, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce specially organized the enterprise pavilion to participate in the meeting, and it is expected that Italian enterprises can find many business opportunities in Hainan.
“China’s consumer market is very, very large, and for Italian companies that want to invest in China, now is a good time to invest in South China, especially in Hainan, because there is a free trade port policy here.” He said.
According to the latest data from the Ministry of Commerce, in the first half of this year, China’s actual use of foreign capital was 723.31 billion yuan, an increase of 17.4% year-on-year. This shows that foreign enterprises are optimistic about China’s economy for a long time and continue to seek new opportunities in China with practical actions.
After the first CICGF last year, a number of international enterprises such as The Swiss Richemont, The French Louis Moxie, the French Pernod Ricard, the United Kingdom De Beers, the United States Teppethich and so on have landed in Hainan, and the spillover effect of the Ciudad Fair is obvious.
During this year’s CICGFEZ, French fashion brand Carl Lagerfeld signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Haikong Global Boutique Duty Free City, sharing opening opportunities and accelerating the expansion of Hainan’s consumer market.
Sheng Qiuping, vice minister of the Ministry of Commerce, said that from the perspective of the current CICGF, the number of foreign exhibitors and brands has increased significantly, the area of international exhibition areas has been expanding, domestic consumer brands have bravely stood at the forefront, and the quality of economic and trade activities has been significantly improved, which fully shows that the role of the CICGF platform has become more prominent, and the attractiveness of the Chinese market has continued to increase.
Singapore’s Aoson was also the second time to participate in the CICGF, during which it received intentional orders from a number of companies. Lin Xiaohui, deputy general manager of brand management and marketing in Aoson North Asia, said that the CICGF is not only an important platform for external communication and brand display, but also a good opportunity to enhance the influence of the Aoson brand and reach more consumers.
Lin Xiaohui said that in recent years, China has launched a new round of opening up policies, which not only optimizes the foreign investment environment, but also delivers a steady stream of momentum for global economic and trade development under the background of repeated epidemics, and injects vitality into the investment of multinational enterprises in China. “We believe that in the future, more and more foreign-funded enterprises will invest in China and firmly seize the ‘China opportunity’.” She said.
