What is the difference between HDMI cable and DVI cable?

As we all know, HDMI cable is a digital video cable based on DVI, DVI cable can transmit digital video data, and HDMI cable can also carry audio on this basis. The main application point of this all-in-one HDMI cable is to successfully connect AV media sources such as DVDS with AV receivers such as flat-panel digital TVS using only one cable instead of two or three. Therefore, there is a certain difference between HDMI cable and DVI cable. Do you know the difference between HDMI cable and DVI cable?

The difference between HDMI cable and DVI cable:

1, the port is different: the port of DVI cable is larger than that of HDMI, which not only takes up more space, but is not convenient enough to plug and remove, but also needs to screw, and the pin is more damaged than the HDMI cable.

2, the transmission distance is different: DVI cable has a relatively large limit on the transmission distance, and HDMI cable can provide a longer transmission distance through the repeater. Under the premise of ensuring no distortion, HDMI transmission distance is far longer than DVI, HDMI cable length can reach 15 meters, DVI can only reach 8 meters.

3, the transmission capacity is different: from the picture alone, the clarity of the two are very high, currently can support 1080p, but DVI cable can only transmit video images, HDMI cable can transmit video and audio, so DVI cable is mostly used for computer monitors, HDMI cable is mostly used for high-definition TV.

4, the transmission rate is different: DVI cable interface single link can usually provide 5Gbps data transmission bandwidth, dual link can provide 10Gbps data transmission bandwidth. HDMI cable 1.3 supports 5Gbps data transmission bandwidth, HDMI cable 1.4 supports 10Gbps data transmission bandwidth, HDMI cable 2.0 supports 18Gbps data transmission bandwidth, and HDMI2.1 supports 48Gbps data transmission bandwidth.

5. Different transmission picture quality: at the same resolution, the picture quality of the two interfaces of DVI cable and HDMI cable is not significantly different. However, with the improvement of resolution, when the DVI interface cannot meet the 4K resolution display, the graphics card may compress 4K transmission. Therefore, HDMI cable interface transmission is preferred when the resolution exceeds 1080p.

In summary, it is the difference between HDMI cable and DVI cable. HDMI cable is compatible with DVI cable, video signal can be connected to DVI interface through the conversion interface, HDMI cable interface can provide up to 5Gbps data transmission bandwidth, can transmit uncompressed audio signal and high-resolution video signal, while there is no need to perform digital/analog or analog/digital conversion before signal transmission. High quality audio and video signal transmission process can be guaranteed, and the scope of application is larger. Moreover, HDMI cable can transmit digital video and audio signals at the same time, with a cable, DVI cable can only transmit digital video signals, transmission audio signals can only use another interface and cable.
